make a website using Php and SQLHi Everyone,
I am on the lookout for some major help! I have been tasked to make a website which incorporates a login page, a general user area, an e-portfolio where a picture can be uploaded, aa training log, a graph to be done in (php) which shows an athelete's time, distance, and sport genre i.e. (iron man, swimming, running, cycling). I do not know where to start and do this. And I need to create a database in SQL. I have been looking on the internet at all the various websites but I am not getting a definitive answer of how to create it. I know there are lots of websites that have created these. But I need to do this for personal reasons. I would be most grateful if anyone can me on this matter. Thanks. Ian |

Re: make a website using Php and SQLHi Ian,
I would suggest looking at a CMS, possibly Joomla. I work with Joomla CMS everyday and find it very powerful, yet easy to work with and maintain. If I can be of any assistance, feel free to give me a shout Kev |

Re: make a website using Php and SQLHi Ian,
Assuming that you already have a site and hosting already, Joomla is very easy to install. Its something I'd happily assist with if needs be. If hosting is required, there are a lot of solutions out there which will include a joomla installation as part of the package. In terms of your requirements, there are a lot of components available which should measure up to what you want to do. For example, I would recommend the Community Builder plugin to act as a personal space for your users, where they can blog, add pictures etc etc.... There are a multitude of options available! Kev |

Re: make a website using Php and SQLHi Kev,
At the moment I am and have a website which is for a colleage at my work. he trains atheletes in iron man events, running etc.. I am hosting it on my colleges server as I this is a project for him. So I am trying to get this up and running for himto look at to see the benefits of a site for his business. So if you can help this will be great as he also wants a way to input time, distance for the events into a graph..any ideas... So your ideas to get this fully running will be of great value. My friend then can find a hosting company to run the site. So YES your help would be fantastic. Ian |

Re: make a website using Php and SQLDo you already have a site design in mind?? If so, thats half the battle... I'll have a hunt around this evening for the required components etc....
In terms of inputting time, distance and all that jazz into a graph, it can be done, I'll have a brain storm this evening and see what I can come up with Kev |

Re: make a website using Php and SQLI have do have one knocking in my head. The layout of the website should have a hompage(index.php), so a little about what the site is and links either on the top or side of page to other pages.
it then needs a register page, this will also need to have things like forgotten passwords etc..the other stuff when you forget(register.php), login page(login.php) e-portfolio(portfolio.php) this will have the graphs, drop down lists etc for iron-man,cycling,swimming and running. As well as a picture and personal details i.e. age, user id etc. bookings page(booking.php) so that the atheletes can book training sessions. So will need a calender dates, times etc.... forum area(forum.php) possibly a payments page for booking training sessions And it has to use MySQL for the database to hold the info I know not alot (lol), but if you can help me out then hopefully I can return the favour. Thanks for your time and understanding, I really appreciate you brain storming. kindest regards Ian Do you already have a site design in mind?? If so, thats half the battle... Re: make a website using Php and SQLThe site I manage is a joomla site that used to have the function Endurance log online and it worked well.
However it is now using Joomla 1.5 legacy that does not have this Triathalon function. In the previous version 1.0.12 now updated to 1.0.xxx (and still in vogue) there is this function and the creator (Siggi) is extremely helpful. Go to joomla.org register and look at the available functions The Triathalon function is free and it is called Endurance log. You will find it in the section, sport and games and it provides in line graphs of data for all running, swimming and biking for each individual user. Each of the individual sports is optional, and using joomla you can make access registered users only. |
