A project in vb.net


hello everybody
i chose to do a project in vb.net (some chose in java ...) but first:i'm wondering if it is good to do a project in vb.net because some told me that it's not a powerful as java or php.
second: my project is to manage Travels in a transport company so does that mean that there is a relation with database?

VB.Net is still a new develop languages. This depends function of your application.

I think this is more than enough to do it in VB.NEt but if you want challenge your programming skill. Then go ahead to Java or PHP.
