Hi everyone, would like to seek opinions on the following:

1. Would you guys switch from windows XP to windows Vista ever ?

Microsoft has decided that they wont provide support for windows XP anymore, so i was wondering what are my options from here onwards:

1. Use linux
2. Use windows 2003 server

I'm more inclined to option 2 :-P as many solutions comes in the form of a .exe executable rather than rpm, and having to create logical links for me to have java working for firefox >_<

anyone has tried using windows 2003 as a desktop rather than a server ?

I have been using Vista for over a year now - love it and sometime even hate going down to the basement to get some things off my XP machine.

Windows XP was released about 2002, so some from my poor memory, I think some things stop five year but full support stops ten year after the release.

The User Advance Control (UAC) is sometime annoying but it is can be disabled.

We also have Windows 2003 downstairs, but I don't really care to use it for a "PC".

i heard that vista eats up loads of ram is that true ? i mean i only have 1gig of ram to spare =X

I have 2G RAM on here - things seem to run pretty good. I have XP that I use - a bit slower (I think 1G RAM there). It is a Dual Core as well from Dell.

It is better to use XP at this time... you can install a program, like a theme to make your XP look Vista.. it is called the Vista Transformation Pack..
