1)) There are 2 logs created in the apache log folder a) Custom Log(access_log) and b) Error_log in the folder /www/logs which is the path directed by the apache conf.

I gave the command

% savelogs --archive=/www/htdocs/logs/logs.tar --apacheconf=/www/conf/httpd.conf

which created the output for the first time of my use, after that when i tried, it is issuing
a error that access_log.040115(current day logs)is changed and the output is not created

The access_log and error_log file(s) as they are converted in this format (access_log.040115)

The httpd.conf file says that

ErrorLog /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log
&
CustomLog /usr/local/apache/logs/access_log

what will happen ? if i change this to..... in httpd.conf file

ErrorLog /usr/local/apache/htdocs/logs/%y%m%d_error.log
CustomLog /usr/local/apache/htdocs/logs/%y%m%d_error.log


My Requirement is :

I need the logs on a daily basis, the logs(s) should be saved daily with the date name or like this es010116.log
which is a combination of error_log and access_log and is saved in /www/htdocs/logs/

Please do not send me the links to read the text based manuals of verio or savelogs, as i need some helpful direction to
set the log format and cron job.

I have fair amount of experience with IIS but apache is new to me. :-(

I would appreciate a quick reply
