To write a small area of a BMP file

hai,
I would like to know , how i can copy a small portion of a BMP file to another file?
if i am having a BMP file of 640x240 size and i would like to copy a small portion
that is a small 50 x 100 section into an another file.

so that in the resulting output file contains only that small region.

i have already copied the header of the older file to the new file, now how shoul d i move to get that particular area alone in the resulting image?

regards..

Re: to write a small area of a BMP file

hai,
i would also like to know well that on reading a 24 bit BMP image,
we r usually leaving 1st 1078 bytes as header and reading the data after that..

On searching the net i have found that there is no colour pallete or color table in 24 bit BMP, then how this 256x4 came along with the 52 bytes of header?
to make it altogether 1078 bytes?.

Maybe you should look into the format of a BMP file to understand what's going on. Try to Google for "BMP image format"
