Re: Lan Driver NeededQuote:
I would guess, from the board designation, that the controller chip is supposed to be a Realtek RTL8139d. I would try the most recent driver from here: Realtek Downloads (How recent? It's dated Jan 21, 2008. That's pretty recent.) Realtek indicates that there is a driver for Windows XP (the 32-bit Operating System) and XP64 (the 64-bit version). <disclaimer>I don't have (and won't have) a 64-bit version of XP, so I wouldn't have any way test it, even if I had an Intex card, (which I don't).</disclaimer> I have seen some traffic on Linux boards to the effect that at least some releases of the Intex card usessome kind of bootleg chip that isn't "exactly" the same as the Realtek RTL8139D, and there were some problems. If the Realtek driver doesn't work and you can't get any support from Intex, you might try for a refund from wherever you got the card. I would try to exchange or trade up for a D-Link or Linksys or some other mainstream brand. (Or even a minorstream brand such as Trendnet. I have had no problems with them either.) All of them work for sure on the 32-bit version of XP. Can't say (for sure) about XP64. And, by the way, I know of a few people who tried XP64 when it first came out. Every one that I know personally reverted to the 32-bit version of XP, since there was no apparent advantage of XP64 for their applications, and there were problems with drivers (video and wi-fi, don't know about Ethernet). Good Luck! Regards, Dave |
