How do you treat testimonials on the web site of the web hosting companies? Are they trustworthy?
Let's take ServerPoint.com. They have them lots on their page. So what do you think of them all?

I think if the testimonial is accompanied by the url of the site hosted by the company, it's rather trustworthy.

I usually ignore testimonials. It's a lot like the infomercials on TV; you often don't know if the people are real or actors, nor do you know if they've been paid for the endorsement. Heck, you don't even know how long ago the testimonial was and if the people still feel the same way. Are the people even real?

People like crystalattice and I are not too bothered about testimonials like these but we are not your average consumers. The majority still buy into stuff like these so it is still a good idea to include it on your web site.

For me testimonials are important. They give you the outlook of the company activity. serverpoint.com as well as www.sibername.com and many other companies have them. They enhance their reputations IMHO.

I trust testimonials because there are always satisfied customers. Remember that if the testimonial is signed witht name and website, you can always contact the person and to ask them to refer their web host.

There is another point of view as well. Web host place only positive comments about them and hide negative... but every business does it!

I usually read testimonials as they judge about company reputation.They are important for the future customers to know more about company's activity. serverpoint.com has a whole page of testimonials. I think it's a big plus for them.
