Cd burner behaves strange

Hi all
Since I formatted my harddisk a month ago, and installed XP, my CD Burner (Philips 2400 Series) behaves very strange, it just opens and closes all day, when I use it, there's no problem, it's only when I don't use it. Is there somebody who knows what can be going on?
