Overselling. Be aware!Hi guys,
Web hosting goes the wrong way! The most advertised shared hosts oversell and pay to get fake reviews. It is part of the business and I understand that. I like this forum and I'm a member here for a long time. That's why I would suggest to its members and visitors not to appreciate big numbers in shared web hosting. It is not possible for any web host to offer 500 GB - 750 GB disc space without cheating customers. So stay away! You can not place 50 persons to live in 2 bedroom apartment, can you? Wish you all the best in 2008 __________________

Re: Overselling. Be aware! This is a good point. Overselling has long been a problem in the hosting industry. I would recommend that people be especially weary of huge hosting plans being sold very cheap on Ebay as they tend to be the worst offenders.
If you compare the plans of a few companies, you should be able to tell when something is just too good for the price being charged. |

Re: Overselling. Be aware!I can also suggest to those who need web hosting to sign-up for a services they will use. Do you know someone who needs to use ... 500 GB disc space with sahred hosting account. If a website like this is too bigit would be a good business which could afford to buy VPS or Dedicated Server.

Re: Overselling. Be aware!Thanx, that's worth reminding, there's one more aspect here as well, you don't buy a ten-room appartment knowing you will be using just two rooms, so whenever you intend to grad as much disk space and bandwidth in a host's plan, make sure you know your actual and potential needs.

Re: Overselling. Be aware! There's controlled overselling as well, and this may not be harmful.

Re: Overselling. Be aware!Consumers do not make a difference between "controlled overselling" and "just overselling". This is responsibility of the web host., but it is definitely better not to oversell and to offer real disc space quotas.

Re: Overselling. Be aware!I think that controlled overselling is done by nearly all the hosting companies and it is good till the time the company does it in a controlled manner and I think that all the hosting companies know when its time to buy a new server and protect their clients
