Getting ComboBox value in Access using VB

ok i have an Access project with a form named ''Menu'' and within that have a 'ComboBox' named "Equipment". How do I go about retrieving that 'selectedValue' through a module you can make in vb.

here is what I have so far....

Function runThisStuff()

updateLabel81

End Function

Public Sub updateLabel81()

Dim text1 As String
text1 = Menu.Equipment.Value // gives me a runtime error here.
                                         // says expecting object.
Menu.Label81.Text = text1

End Sub

So either access has no idea what 'Value' pertains to, or I'm just an idiot and doing it completely wrong.
