One fine day I wake up and my CDRW (Philips CDRW 2400 series) isn't spinning Cd's of any kind. The "disc in" light flashes for a bit and then goes. During startup, the Cd Rom goes undetected although when I check in the device manager of my Windows 98 system, it says that device working correctly. Has to be a mechanical problem, rite? Any guesses on what the problem might be? Thanks.

I would check to make sure that the IDE cable going to the CD ROM is not lose. If it not you may want to uninstall the drive and then reinstall it. If that doesn't work I would say that it's the drive. Hope this helps.
