hello! im kinda confused with this id3 algorithm to generate my decision tree..can anyone help me with this? please...i really need help..

i need to build a decision tree that will diagnose a disease through given symptoms..im confused on the paramaters of the algorithm..
please somebody explain to me what is:

>set of non-categorical attribute
>categorical attribute
>training sets

your help would really mean a lot.
