Question

I Need Help On My Site

I've just started on my new site, for Guitar Tabliture (www.ikonos.tk ), there are a few design faults, but i can get round them, its just the content, i have a heap of .txt files to upload and i need a simple way of displying them, eg click a link and the txt file is displayed, i dont wanna have to right a new page for each file.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Let me just try to clarify this. You want to be able to upload a .txt file in a specific directory and then on another page in that directory, you want to alphabetically sort the list of .txt files, and then print the name of the file, as well as display the name of it in a link form.

Do you know if you are allowd to run PHP or Perl?

Also, its nice when you have a question if you include the 'real' address of the site.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ikonos/ is the actual address. This also helps because we know you are hosted on a free server. Usually means there are a lot more restrictions, and most likely you will not be able to run php scripts.

Browse www.hotscripts.com for similar scripts to the one you are looking for. Look for CGI/PERL/PHP/JavaScript scripts.

Hello Ikonos,

Like Bobby said, you will need to tell us if your web server supports:
  1. Server side includes
  2. Server side scripting e.g. PHP, ASP, perl, etc.
  3. FrontPage server extensions

Either one of these options will allow you to 'include' files and content off other files stored on your web server folders.

Best bet is to switch to a host with php, perl, or some server side script.

www.TopHostingSolutions.com is an excellent host, the best I've ever had. Plans start at $4.95 a month. (no, this isn't my company just giving credit to a good company, where it's due)

www.HotScripts.com has many scripts for this, check it out.

Best of Luck,

Josh

Josh, if you REALLY want to spread the word about your web host, we have a forum just for that here: Web Host Review Forum .
