Problem with.. well.. everything!okay, so I'm minding my own business.. talking on WLM and everything, and suddenly windows xp freezes up.
BAM it reboots out of nowhere. as its trying to start: "System32\Drivers\ntfs.sys is missing or corrupt" and all that junk. I read the following: gidforums.com/t-5302.html but it didnt help. for this reason: when I try anything, safe mode, repair on the xp cd, heck, I even tried a BartPE Live CD, and every time "System32\Drivers\ntfs.sys is missing or corrupt" it makes no sense! if it was missing or corrupt on the hard drive, then sure, I could understand it not booting, and then I should logically be able to use the install cd. or the livecd. but this is just weird. theres no way that file is corrupt on the hard drive, my xp install cd, and my livecd. I've even tried other copies of windows xp. even a friends' copy. theres -no- way my -friends- copy has a corrupt ntfs.sys file -as well- as every copy I have. the only thing I can think of is maybe something is wrong with my RAM or something? I dont even know. anyway, I figure I'll ask if anyone knows what might be going on, just in case. I've even called microsoft, and they didnt have a sweet clue. but I dont think they know much about what their doing anyway. I had to say my name 8 times, just so they could get it right. |
