Using the SEO abilities of WordpressUsing the built in SEO abilities of Wordpress
Mohammad CEO/Executive Director InsetNetworks Chicago, Il, USA Introduction Blogging, its a phenomenon striking the world. Almost everyone has a blog; in my introduction I plan on telling you the dos and don'ts of good SEO in blogging. 1.Get a domain No one wants to type myblog.somefreehost.com into their browser, having a domain also tell people you are here for real and are serious about blogging. The $8.00 for a domain and $1.99/month (Godaddy) for hosting is not a lot to pay considering the payoff you can get from correctly optimizing your blog. 2.If you are not going to use wordpress don't blog Its as simple as that, wordpress has amazing SEO capabilities built into it, the code is semantic and very well written and it is quite easy to edit and modify. 3.Use Askimet Anti-SPAM No one wants to read through comments filled with links to PPC(porn, pharmacy, and casino) ads. Askimet does a very good job of preventing spam on blogs, I have seen blogs with over 100,000 visitors a day never get a single spam comment using askimet. 4.Use proper English and post good material If you plan to get a good amount of incoming links you must use a technique called Link-Baiting, this process consists of posting material so good that other will want to link to you out of their own will. 5.Use search engine submission services In a past post I listed various search engine submission services just put these into you wordpress submission alert like so administration panel>options>writing>and Update services Quote: Originally Posted by WP SUBMISSION SERVICES 1470.net api.feedster.com api.feedster.com api.moreover.com api.moreover.com api.my.yahoo.com api.my.yahoo.com bblog.com bitacoras.net blogdb.jp blog.goo.ne.jp blogsearch.google.com blogmatcher.com bulkfeeds.net coreblog.org mod-pubsub.org phobos.apple.com ping.amagle.com ping.bitacoras.com ping.bloggers.jp ping.blogmura.jp ping.blo.gs ping.cocolog-nifty.com pinger.blogflux.com ping.exblog.jp ping.feedburner.com ping.myblog.jp pingqueue.com ping.blogg.de ping.rootblog.com ping.syndic8.com ping.weblogalot.com ping.weblogs.se rcs.datashed.net rpc.blogbuzzmachine.com rpc.blogrolling.com rpc.britblog.com rpc.icerocket.com rpc.newsgator.com rpc.pingomatic.com rpc.tailrank.com rpc.technorati.com rpc.weblogs.com rpc.wpkeys.com services.newsgator.com signup.alerts.msn.com topicexchange.com trackback.bakeinu.jp www.a2b.cc www.bitacoles.net www.blogdigger.com www.blogoole.com www.blogoon.net www.blogpeople.net www.blogroots.com www.blogshares.com www.blogstreet.com www.holycowdude.com www.lasermemory.com www.imblogs.net www.mod-pubsub.org www.newsisfree.com www.newsisfree.com blogsearch.google.com www.popdex.com www.snipsnap.org www.weblogues.com xmlrpc.blogg.de xping.pubsub.com blogupdate.org www.feedsky.com Optimizing Permalinks for best Search Engine Exposure The goal of this procedure is to insert as many keywords as possible into one link, but here you have to limit your self slightly you cannot over fill a url with keywords as it becomes way to long. 3 steps to optimizing permalinks. 1.Always include %postname% in your url What can I say wordpress makes it so easy its a must there is no other option you have to do it. 2.Don't clutter your url with useless tags. There is no need for %day%, %time%, or %seconds% tags don't use them. On my blog the permalink tag format is %year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/ 3.Pick one structure and stick to it. If you continuously change your structure you are continuously invalidating important back-links to your website. Optimizing Page Titles in Word Press Wordpress's automatic page title system is a bit of a shame really, it is pretty much absolutely useless unless you have a memorable name like Microsoft or Engadget. What wordpress does to your titles: It places the title of your blog in front of the keywords, as every SEO knows you want the Keywords at the front not at the end as wordpress shows it. Here is how the wordpress format is for titles: BLOGNAME >> POSTTITLE yours should be: POST TITLE - BLOGNAME It is quite simple to fix that just enter the following code into your template Code: < title>< ?php wp_title(' '); ?>< ?php if(wp_title(' ', false)) { echo ' · '; } ?>BLOG NAME</title>See how easy it is to SEO your blog using wordpress. Post Titles Keep you post titles snappy and good to the ears, they should make the reader want to read more, and remember to always link to the post. It is where the reader with obviously click and it provides keyword loaded inwards links that adds more keywords to your website. HTML tags Put your latest post in <h1> tags and put the older posts in <h3> or <h4> tags it works wonders in the world of SEO. Use the related posts plugin It shows the 5 most related posts and makes people stay on your blog much longer and adds valuable related inwards links and keywords to your blog. Use categories It keeps your blog organized and helps people and search engines alike navigate your site. |
