Please help with cd burner

Im gonna try to explain this problem im having as best as i possibly can:

I built this new computer and everything worked out fine. I installed Nero, which is the program i've had always used to burn cds.

The first time i used it, i had to select a type of driver to use, (i think this is where the problem came) i was going to burn an image cd, whihch when you do you use .cue and .bin. So when i go to select a drive, i select mine as an image drive.

So when i go to burn the cd it asks me where to save the image file (strange but i went ahead) then, it takes about 20 secs and it gets done saving. Then its done, since this is a new cd burner i was impressed that it burned a cd in about 20-30 secs, but then when i checked the only thing it did was save the image i wanted to burn and i did absolutly nothing to the cd.

OK, this is really wierd, i tried a few other cds and cd types (audio, media...) but all it does is save the cd as an image file.

So i start thinking that something is wrong with Nero. I unistalled it and installed Easy cd creator 5. I install it fine, but then when i start the program i get an error message that direct cd does not suport something blah blah blah. I try to configure some stuff but nothing. I then installed NTI CD-Maker Gold. It worked fine so i thought it was the programs. I could burn anything exept image files which i don't know to do with NTI. A couple days ago i went to burn an audio cd. Then i get an error message in the middle of the cd thats being burned. About 5 songs had gotten written on the cd. I rtied again with a lower speed but same thing happened. I rebooted my pc and closed everything running but nothing.

Since i still have Nero on my pc i tried burning a cd with it but i get the old problem.

I think that the problem with nero and easy cd creator is that i configured my burner as a Image writer, but i have tried but i can't change that configuration. I have looked for drivers to update my burner but can't find it.

can someone please help, i have so much stuff on my comp that i have to burn and its crammed with stuff.

What you can do is try and use Windows. Windows XP can burn CD as well. In my computer double click on the CD Writer and then drag and drop the file that your trying to burn in there. On the side I think its the left side your will see some text that say burn these file or something like that go ahead click it and see if this works. I'm researching the problem now to see if I can help find a solution.

Ok I'll get back with you tomorrow morning on this I'm at work now and I don't have either of these programs here. But when I get home in the morning I'll take a look and see if I can find the problem. If in the mean time anyone else here thinks they could help sooner then me please feel free.
