Payment ProcessorSometime back in the past, many webmasters used PayPal as an easy form of accepting payments. Soon it became apparent that accepting payments was not the easy task it appeared. Accounts get frozen, chargebacks seem to be common place and support was non existent with PayPal.
Now some savvy programmers launch a script that is very similar to StormPay.com website. This enables any child, housewife or bum on the street, the opportunity to offer a payment system. People fund accounts then suddenly realize they cannot access the funds, because as great as the script that created the Payment System is, it cannot create management knowledge or experience. This is now a blight on the internet as Payment System after Payment System comes crashing down. What hope is there? YowCow, ever heard of them? Most likely you haven’t. It is one of those small companies that quietly plod along, watching everyone make the same mistake time and time again. They accept Credit Cards but they make sure that the Credit Card owner is legitimate. They provide free tools, because they know that it helps them. They don’t charge any signup fees because they know that they will get a return in the long run. They charge 35 cents per transaction because its needed to remain competitive and will support their growth. Keep your eye out for them, they don’t advertise much, but slowly they appear. Not bursting out of the gate and suddenly going up in flames. Just nice easy controlled growth. www.yowcow.com |

NOCHEX have been very satisfactory for my needs and only charge £1/1% of transfer (whichever is more).
I'm not sure if you are from the company and this is a bit of forum spam, but I won't delete it as it actually provokes an interesting debate. I think we should move forum section though. Rob |

I looked over the site to locate the best place but I couldnt find anything concerning ecommerce.
It is a huge part of the industry and I honestly think that it should be an area that should have its own category. For instance, the script that I spoke about is for sale on ebay and has caused a lot of grief with webmasters who used it. Ecommerce is a very difficult area to work in as there are many issues that can crop up and without sufficient knowledge of the industry, you will fail. Thats been proven time and time again, with sites popping up, only to close down weeks or months later. Who suffers? The internet industry! The merchants! The customers! |

A new 'kid' on the block: BitPassWhile we're on the subject of "Payment Processors", here's something new and according to their email, something that's going to be launched soon!
Quote:
I was supposed to apply to be a beta tester a while back but then I suddenly remembered that I had NOTHING to sell (then)... ![]() But, I think in a few weeks I may have something to sell online, so I opened an account a couple of days ago... __________________

This is exactly what I mean about ecommerce.
I visited the site and I needed to hunt around to find the fees. If you do dig around you get the Quote:
Now as far as promising the world, why in heck is something like that hidden away. I dont care if its BETA or not, just looking at the management team should be enough to let anyone know they arent stupid and the reason things are hidden in the way it is, is for you to find out, after the event. From what I understand, all they offer is what you can get anywhere else for nothing, but they charge a fee for it ! In all actuallity, I have no idea what they were selling... I was completely baffled by that site.... |

Ecommerce is actually a patented have a read of this to feel really cheesed off: http://www.chillingeffects.org/ecom/
Paypal, Nochex & Yowcow are not e-commerce they are financial transaction services that take a portion of the money you pay as a fee. Paypal are getting silly taking more and more, which are starting to annoy people with Worldcom being just as bad. Once they start to get greedy, its time to move on. Rob |

Re: Payment ProcessorPayment processors have change quite a bit since Paypal came in the picture. The competition has brought the rates down. I use Authorize.net $7 with UnitedBankService.com and it is quite reasonable for a merchant account. It works well with OSCommerce, which is a GNU free cart.

Re: Payment ProcessorPayment Processor / InfoDial offers a free credit card gateway (when you sign up for the merchant account), that includes desktop transactions, virtual terminal, and technical expertise to provide you with the best possible solution. Our merchant account pricing is one of the lowest available. We can setup a "payment page" service if your web site or shopping cart does not provide proper security or if you just have 1 product or donation page you need hosted.
