Simon goes buying a new car: Simon: "What are the advantages of this 80's car?" Guy: "It runs more steady than those lousy 30's cars." Simon: "Oh, thanks. But I'll keep this 2008 model." Simon goes buying a new car: Simon: "What are the advantages of this 80's car over my 2008 all terrain vehicle?" Guy: "Probably none. I can find some, maybe, if I look really hard." Simon: "Oh, thanks. Then I'll keep this 2008 model." Quote:
Simon talking about food with his friend Guy: Simon: "Hey recommend me some good food." Guy: "The other day I got this really fatty steak at the restaurant, that was something that! Really buttery cookies are also yummies." Simon: "Belgh. That's sick!" Simon talking about food with his friend Guy: Simon: "Hey recommend me some food, it has to be healthy; the doctor said my heart isn't that good at this age." Guy: "Well I recommend vegetables." Simon: "Hey, that's a good idea." |

Re: Firefox QuestionsYou want advantages over IE I assume. A big one is: no ActiveX. ActiveX is one of the ways malware can affect your computer via the browser. There's no reason for it sense Javascript, PHP, et al. can do the same things.
Another one is the lack of "tightness" between the browser and the OS. This means a critical flaw in the browser won't necessarily mean your OS is vulnerable too. Patches for Firefox are released faster than IE. Typically critical fixes are released within hours but usually no more than a few days after the vulnerability is known. IE typically waits for the weekly "Patch Tuesday" release, if a patch is released at all. Several times in the past MS has decided the vulnerability isn't critical enough to come out w/ a patch, or at least release one quickly. And a big point for many people are the plug-ins which extend the capabilities of the browser. Personally I prefer a relatively lean browser (I use Opera most of the time) but FF has a few necessary plug-ins, IMO: Adblock and NoScript eliminate a good portion of nuisances and make surfing safer while DownloadThemAll is a good one if you like to visit sites with multiple files to download (video, pictures, sounds, etc.). DTA is a good program if you're building web sites or publishing because you can do multiple downloads at one time, such as background graphics or clip art. Adblock can be adjusted to block annoying ads or let ads through. NoScript prevents potentially adverse Javascript or other scripts from running without permission. __________________
