Using text widgets

I've been trying for quite a while to create "custom" widgets using the text widgets available in the admin section. I'll drag the text widget to the template area, open it, and then copy & paste Javascript.

Supposedly this is supposed to work, but it doesn't work for me. Every time I click "Save Changes" and view the updated site, the widget doesn't appear. When I check the text widget again, the Javascript I put in there wasn't saved; the widget is blank.

However, if I just put in straight text, it appears just fine. What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do differently to have my Javascript run correctly?

Re: Using text widgets

This is so some unscrupulous person can't put "bad" javascript onto a page. Maybe you are "bad to the bone" and don't even know it?

just kidding...

Randomly allowing for scripts to be executed has been deemed not safe for a multiuser MU installation. Anything in a <script> tag will be removed. Contact the site admin with the JS you want to put up and perhaps something can be worked out.

Great, he's going on vacation for 2 weeks. Oh well, nothing critical that can't wait.

Thanks, Mark!

Of course what I meant to say was for multiuser WP installation.

Glad to help, such as it was.
