whats the best programs that will scan then tell me whats wrong and or mfix my cd drive only not my comp

what do your mean what wrong with it, is it not reading a disc, is it not showing in my computer as a drive etc,

when burning a cd it will have some skips on some of the tracks on the cd when i play it in a cd player. the same thing is going on when i play it on my comp/cd drive it will have skips on some of the tracks. what can i do to stop this? the tracks are good. i can play them from my comp in w.m.p. but not on a cd i made with out some skips on some of the tracks. i have a dell dimension 8400 with two burners cd/dvd. whats going on HELP ME please

it sounds like the cd's are the problem, or the program your using to burn them with, try different cds, failing that, try a differed cd burning program
