-- Dumb Com Port Question --A buddy of mine is the project lead on a SQL 2000 upgrade from MS Foxpro 2.6. He has Win XP boxes running a homegrown code to process the weighing of rubber (He works for a Pharmaceutical company).
He has a scale, scanner, and a printer hooked up to it through COM ports. The problem is that when he tries to exit the program and re-enter he gets a "init: port already in use" error. I'm not sure what is causing it. Currently he has to shut down, unplug the scale, boot up and then plug the scale back in. The scale sends data 100% of the time. Anyone have a suggestion on how he can stop the COM2 port from holding the port open when he exits and reenters the program? Any and all help would be much appreciated. |
