Bluffing is exciting stuff on televisionThe television coverage of many of the large no-limit poker tournaments has led to many misconceptions about the frequency of bluffing in poker games.

Re: Bluffing is exciting stuff on televisionQuote:
After running across some kind of poker tournament---on a sports channel for goodness sake!!!---I had to send my "Most Boring Thing Ever Shown Regularly on TV" meter back to the vendor for recalibration (the needle pegged at full scale and wouldn't go back down). I mean playing poker is fun for a lot of people (well for some people), but watching other people play poker??? Gimme a break! On the other hand if I ever do decide to play again, I will hope that everyone else in the game learned from those silly TV "tournaments". Regards, Dave Footnote: My feelings about playing "real" poker are like those of Mark Cuban about investing: Always look for the sucker. If you can't see one, it's you. |

Re: Bluffing is exciting stuff on televisionOn a side note, personally I don't think hats or sunglasses should be allowed at a tournament table. If you aren't able to play well enough to keep a "tell" from showing (or at least from hurting your hand), then you shouldn't be at the table.
Heck, if they allow those, then why not just put everyone behind curtains? __________________
