Viewing incoming links?I've seen a couple of incoming links from other sites but when I click on the so-called backlink I can't find where the other sites are actually linking to me.
When I check out Technorati it shows a small "paragraph" of titles and my articles are highlighted yet I can't seem to find them, even if I search the sites. I accepted that maybe someone deleted the links originally but it seems to be happening with all of them. Is there some special thing I have to do? (It's not really important. I just want to see what others are saying about my articles.) __________________

Re: Viewing incoming links? The incoming links report in your dashboard appears to be extracted from Technorati.com.
It is perhaps something you should ignore. Maybe, and I am speculating here, technorati is being "tricked" by these unscrupulous bloggers who insert snippets of content from various other blogs when the technorati bots come around, but leave them out for regular users like you and me (and important Search Engines like Google and Yahoo). A simple & quick way to find out if this is indeed what is happening, you should use Google and run a search like this: [site:someblogger.example.com "the unique snippet that you wrote that technorati claims appears on that other site"] If Google returns nothing you shouldn't waste any more time with this other site. You may be doing EXACTLY what they want you to do, i.e. keep visiting and searching their site for that mysterious link back to your site. There are many desperate webmasters like this, believe it or not! There is also another, valid reason why you would see incoming links that no longer appear on the site. They may just be displaying random, related links from some feed. And when the technorati bot fetched a page off their site, a link to one of your pages just happened to be one of those being displayed by the feed at the time. |

Re: Viewing incoming links?Okay, that makes sense. It's just that the sites that "linked" to me appeared to be related to the topic, e.g. my rant about cell phones was "linked" by a mobile phone news blog.
Guess I won't worry about it. Thanks. __________________
