Hie

I have a Pentium 11 computer, 365MHz, 160 MB of RAM.
The computer was previously using windows XP
I removed its 4GB hard drive and I recently installed a new 20GB hard drive.
I tried to boot the computer with windows XP CD and received the following message
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt System32/Drivers/Ntfs.sys

I tried to run SETUP again, this time I formatted the Hard drive with a FAT format
Again I received a strange message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt System32/ntoskrnl.exe

I was then advised by a friend to use a widows 98 CD. I used windows 98 CD and again the computer could not start, I received the following message
A device file which may be needed to run windows is built with an old beta version of windows DDK
Contact the software provider for a newer version of the device file
C:\windows\system\VMM32\VPICD.VXD

I have ran out of ideas; I really need your help

I wouldn't normally advise anybody to go any where near Linux, but if you can get a live CD, and boot up off of that, it might give you a chance to get onto your hard disk, have a look around, and perhaps find out what's going on.
