hi
i have some .avi and .mpg files i want to convert to div x. i ahve a few video editing tools, but dont relly no my way around them :-) can anyone tel me in a few simple steps how to create my own div x files.
all i want to do is record some stuff of the tv with my tv card, and put it on div x. but it always makes the file sizes so huge.... how do i caompress it??

A lot of the size has to do with the quality of the video. I'm not sure but DIVX may be large do to its quality. I thought that AVI was the way to go for quality and size. But I'm not to sure about this. I'll see what I can find but I'm not to up on this kind of stuff.

DIVX works on MPG-4 compared to DVD's and MPEG, which are MPG-2. So, as you can see there's a lot more compression going on with decent quality to be had. However, the whole process can take a long long time if you don't have a fast processor.
