Hosting web content on remote LAN machinesI'm using Eedora 6 with Apache2.x
Suppose I keep my main index.html at /var/www/html But then suppose I want to keep most of my other site content on other machines throughout my LAN. What is the best way to do this? I've tried a mount: mount -t cifs //192.168.0.106/media /var/www/html/images/photos And also a link: (from within /var/www/html/images) ln -s /mnt/XXXX/photos photos (XXXX being the name of the mounted NAS) That is, I tried a symbolic link to a /mnt mount, and also placing the mount directly inside the /var/www/html/images folder. In either case, only the images on the web server host get served correctly. I'm using regular HTML IMG links to the other shared folder. But when Apache serves the remote image, it only shares about 1/6th of the image (then I have to manually press Refresh to get the next update to the image). Any suggestions on what's going on? Any suggestions? Basically I'm asking what is the bast way to store your web content on various shared systems, and not just copy everything into the root folder /var/www/html. Thanks! |
