Is Google Ads That Good?I've been an affiliate of various programs for many years. It has paid the expenses of running a web site. I recently added banner ads. My question is that many similar small sites have added the Adsense links from Google. I would only add it as a supplement to what i already have, but when they ask for page exclusivity, and a $100 income threshold, I can't justify it.
Is there something I'm missing about Google ads? Is it good enough for foresake all other programs, or are they not so strict about 'exclusivity'. I have 1 pay-per-click account and it barely gets $100 a year, but they pay out every $25. Why are so many sites signing up with Google? Am I just underestimating the click-throughs they're getting? |

Re: Is Google Ads That Good?Google AdSense is simply fantastic, maybe not as fantastic as they were in 2003, 2004, but still fantastic.
They don't ask for page exclusivity, where did you read that? What they ask is that you don't place ads from other providers that mimic their ad units. That is all. |

Re: Is Google Ads That Good?I signed up long ago but the 'requirements' they sent me at that time were not attractive. I'm glad to see it's not exclusive.
Your post hints that the program isn't as good now as it was then. What has changed? If I can't make the $100 threshhold quickly, I fear I might be watering down my existing links, especially if they link to the same site. Has anyone had experiences in that area? After running both Text and Banner ads, I get much better response with Text, and the AdSense ads seem more attractive now. |

Re: Is Google Ads That Good? The average price per click for AdSense isn't what it used to be, but then again most of us who registered with them back in 2003 already suspected that this would happen. When other people hear you're making up to $20.00 per click, they're going to become webmasters very fast, if you know what I mean.
Nowadays, you know it's a very auspicious day if you find a click that brings in anything over a dollar! It still happens for sure, but very (VERY) rarely. It seems to me that they have done very little to improve their targetting algorithm. I see a lot of badly targetted ads on this site. If someone writes about 'strings' in the context of programming, the ads are for "violins, cellos, harps", "guitar strings", and the one that really gets me: "Kabbalah Strings", whatever that means. Instead, they'd rather spend time making layout changes to their ad units as they have done recently. *sigh* Still, I am happy with AdSense, and with Google. They have the best products today and I am sure you'll be happy with the program too. If you feature the same advertisers on your site, you can block them from within AdSense. That's not a problem. |

Re: Is Google Ads That Good?Ah yes, the terms of Service are quite different now. I re-activated my account and generated some links. The hard part is choosing from among all the possibilties. Unfortunately, they need to be embedded in individual web pages instead of allowing a single reference page that generates links throughout the web site.
I placed them in my top 10 pages, based on traffic, that would generate relevent ads. I will allow for the possibility that they could be more profitable than my current banners. I'm also surprised how fast the 'crawlers' can read the site. Thanks for giving me the confidence to give it a try. Now to monitor the performance. |

Re: Is Google Ads That Good?Although the earnings from Adsense per click has slowly lowered it is still a very good program and pays much more than some other affiliate programs on the web.
