What is the equivalent in Java for a Function or Module in VB

Hi,
I have been programming in Visual Basic for quite some time, and now I am trying to learn java. I just have a couple of questions.

1. What is the equivalent in java for a function in VB
2. What is the equivalent in java for a module in VB

I have tried to use both of these, but they won't work in java. I think there must be some other name for these operators in java, please help me solve this problem

~Thanks

Take a quick look at this: (general difference in language constructs, presented side-by-side)

Re: New to Java, please help

Ok, a "class module" in VB is similar to what a 'class' is in java.

Here's a little blurb:
Quote:
In VB 4.0, Microsoft introduced class modules. Class modules gave VB programmers the ability to define new objects. They used the word "class" because, in other programming languages, that is the word used to describe the definition of an object.

If you have more questions, just post another response to this thread.
