I see alot of discussion about Google page ranking. I have uploaded sitemaps with Google, and registered my website with other search engines. But, I am uncertain as to how one would increase your page ranking from zero with Google, or increase my preseance with the other search engines.

I uploaded my sitemaps and registered my site back in January, and still I have not seen an increase in my PR from zero. I figured it might take a little time to get noticed, but I am crawled once a week by all the major search engines, for the last couple of months.

Votes from other sites=links is the main factor in calculating PR so get more links and you'll get PR.

Quality content will bring more visitors and Google will define your web site as important one. Links from relevant web sites are also helpful.

Find other sites just like yours on the internet. Give you an example. Do a websearch on yahoo for a site like yours.... once you do that, your results will come up. Then go to the website.. find out what their traffic is like and who is linking to them by going to www.alexa.com -- this is an excellent place to start your research. If you need more help, just let me know. I'm not much a html or css programming type of guy... but one thing is for sure. I know how to get hits and marketing on the internet. Let me know.
