Joe is on a distinguished road

Hello from Joe

Hey all!

I'm more-or-less new to this forum. Not completely, in the sense that I registered here nearly a year ago. However, I don't drop in very regularly, so I'm still a rather new-ish poster here.

I'm a tech guy who likes tinkering with computers, especially programming with C/C++. I help on some other forums, so I already know at least one or two members here (recognize me WaltP? ).

Other nicknames that can be attributed to me are "joetheprogrammer", "joeprogrammer" (when the usernames on vBulletin have a character limit), and when it's available, just "Joe".

Hopefully I'll stick around here more!

Hi Joe,

I'm just starting out in C++, I've found some online beginner C++ spoon feeding pages and hope to get some help from ones like yourself shortly.

Good to meet you.

Re: Hello from Joe

Thank you for the introduction, Joe.

Any friend of WaltP is more than welcome here.

Sometimes it can get quiet here, but please try to drop by more often than once a year.

Look what you're doing to me, I've already posted 4 times more in a couple of days than I did in a whole year!

There is something that a Lot of People don't realize: I hope that I am not giving away too much secret information, but after you reach a certain post count, you are automatically entered into a drawing that is held every year on Saint Swithun's day, weather permitting.

First prize is a free trip to either Cannes, France, or Yuba City, California (judges' choice). All you have to pay for is transportation, lodging, food, passport, visa, and miscellaneous expenses.

Regards,

Dave

Footnote: Of course, only serious topics can be covered in order to qualify. Otherwise the board would be flooded with frivolous messages that certain unscrupulous people might generate in order to artificially inflate their post count.

Interesting. Although I don't think I can compete for the prize (you answer all the questions before I get here!), it's really quite nice to see forums giving away huge prizes. Who's sponsoring the contest? How can this forum afford such a thing?

I was the lucky winner of a blogging contest a few months ago (just google "joeprogrammer blogging contest"). So I don't think that I would compete anyway, winning another contest would just go to my head, sorry
