UK Shopping Directory - please reviewHi,
If someone could just have a quick look and tell me what they think, especially concerning search engine friendliness the I would be very grateful. Also feel free to list your site if you are a UK retailer (listing is free) www.zoink.co.uk |

I thought I saw session ids...apart from that it looks quite plain. Are you still working on it?

On your page you need to describe in detail what your site is about.

yes i am still working on it, but i intend to keep it very simple, just a clean directory of uk retailers. and maybe add some ad words when (and if) it becomes popular.
Thanks for replying. |

Zoink, it is exactly one year ago that I learnt about the evils of session ids, so I would heed Divs comment about them.
If your main objective is to make this directory Search Engine friendly, you may have to re-think the logic for using session ids in your scripts and make this a priority. __________________

i've noticed on other sites i've worked on that session id's are not visible if you use a absolute path eg. "http://www.zoink.co.uk/page.php" instead of just "./page.php"
does this solve the problem or am i missing something? |

That depends on the user/reader's browser setting for setting cookies. So PHP's session handling will simply set a (session) cookie on the reader's browser if it's able to.... so suddenly, you (the reader) will see NO session ids in the address bar or links after the 3rd click on a site that uses sessions.
With the search engine bots however, they almost NEVER allow cookies to be set, so the session id remains in the links... there's the problem right there! __________________

Hello. I really like your site. It looks very professional and the layout looks very neat. It didnt take very long to load, and the page is short but right to the point.
Very good job, good luck with it. |
