there used to be hundreds of people here before, now it's only me online... what happen? where did the traffic go? this used to be one of my fav. online resource forums.... i dont want it to go away

At the moment on my system right now (19 April, 2007 1915 UCT) it says 113 online (3 members). That seems about typical for midweek, midday, US Pacific time. (Except for after about the first week of new school terms, when first projects are assigned, or just before the end of the terms, when last projects are due, and there are lots of "I am lost--- please do my homework" requests.)

Many (most?) of the 113 are spiders and 'bots. Members drift in and out throughout the day (some members click the "invisible" button in their profile, so you don't know how many are really lurking).

Me, too. I wouldn't know what to do with my spare time. TV is unwatchable, and, other than gidforums, 85% of the stuff on the web is crap. (Of course 85% of everything is crap, so I'm not sure if there is a point there, somewhere.)

I can assure you that traffic to the site has not dropped. Infact, over 6 six months now, I have actually been blocking many rogue bots and IPs that abuse the site and inflate the "Users Online" count.

I suppose I will keep this site online even if nobody (members) comes anymore. It has many (MANY) threads full of information for others to find (thanks to people like you). So, it's not disappearing anytime soon.

As for me personally, I haven't been able to spend a lot of time on the site lately for one simple reason: my computer has gone bonkers. I have a electrician coming over today or tomorrow to look at the plug point. I suspect that it's a problem with the power supply.

My biggest beef these days is that there seems to be too much traffic. At peak times I find some of the page loads to be positively tragic. Having to wait 23 seconds for a page to load. Heavens to Mergatroid!

Personally I wouldn't like to see gidforums go away either. Although I haven't been actively posting here of late, but I do come here to read. Its a great resource this, with all those threads.
