Hey, I'm new to HTML and (with the help of google) I've created a nice site for my brother. The site is: http://poeticspit.googlepages.com/ . Could you all let me know what you think of the color scheme and layout? I've got a widescreen laptop and would like to get some opinions on the layout for those who a)Don't have a widescreen monitor and b) Are not running IE. I don't think there is anything specific to IE but you never know. I'm open to suggestion on layout, color, navigation links, ideals, pictures. And now for the shameless plug, it would be awesome if we could get some art submissions. The page also is looking to start publishing art. Thanks for everyones help.

Way to plain.. You need more pictures... Some times to much content can scare visitors away...

What do you mean? You seem to have posted two different opinions about the site. Is it too plain, or does it have too much content?

Okay, I'd like to spice the page up some but I'm running into a design issue. I want each poetry page to focus on just the poem. I like the white text on a black background and won't budge on changing that, nor will I budge on changing the front page. I like those. However, everything else is up for changes. I went through the pages and realize a lot of it does look similiar and would like to change that. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to "spice" the page up some?

the layout could be better, especially I would change the red color:S

I'm running Firefox at a screen resolution of 1152x864. My main complaint is that the site looks strange with the fixed width. I think that the colors are fine and there's nothing wrong with having all the pages look the same. In fact, I think that's an asset because it gives the site a consistent look. The navigation could be improved. When viewing a poem, the only choice is Home. It would be nice to have a link back to the poet's main page instead of having to use the back button in the browser. On the home page the bold white text is a bit too bright. Take it down just a bit.
Overall a pretty decent site.
You should install Firefox and Opera so that you can see how other browsers render the site.

Im using firefox at 1024x768, and its not wide enough, it looks kind of strange, and the "Links to other great sites:" cant see it right, you should change the color. The status .... hmm, i think that if you center it sould look better. I like your topic for your website.
