Apache server version


I have a Linux box with apcahe 2 http server.

1. How i can find out what vision exactly this server running
2. Does Linux have a file versioning, like i windows or something similar
3. I ran rpm -ga | grep apache and got no any result, this indicate that server was installed wirhout rpm manager
4. httpd executable located in /usr/local/apache2/bin
5. OS Suse 8.2

Why Suse 8.2? There is Suse 10.2 available.

Type the below command in terminal

httpd –v
you will see a message like:
Server Version: Apache/2.0.54
If you are hosted by a CPANEL web server. For a whm/cpanel server :

/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -v

is the command to find out the apache version.
