Google Ads on Opera: Is it right?

I think Opera's latest idea to feature Google Adwords based on content off a web page being viewed is simply morally, ethically wrong!

Quote:
Google determines what ads and related searches are relevant based on the URL and content of the page you are viewing and your IP address, which are sent to Google via the Opera browser.

more...

I have a half a mind to disable ALL my web pages to Opera users (well, at least until this situation changes)! What are your thoughts, if any?

This is with the latest free version of Opera? Do they still provide an "ad free" paid version? FWIW, I use a free version of Opera and have ignored the banner ads since day one.

What I think is that it doesn't matter if it was just the free version that features this... or that only a handful of web surfers on my web pages ever use the browser on any given day;

It's a matter of principal and it sets a dangerous precedence.

How can you tell? Opera has built-in provision for spoofing UA.

Its too easy to spoof your UA nowadays, I think they need to come up with something a bit more unhackable, but obviously that isn't easy.

There's probably a lot more Opera users than you expect.
