Alright so I have this burner now for quite some time and has been working perfectly forever with no problems. Just recently I added a new DVD burner that I recieved as a present. When I installed it I just took my old cable from my DVD drive and connected them to the new one (before I added the new one I had 2 drives, a normal DVD drive and a CD drive/burner). Since then my CD drive has been unable to burn anything and the new drive is the same. I tried switching out the new drive with the old one and nothing happens. When I burn something it goes through all the stages burns at the right pace, takes the right amount of time and nothing wrong occurs. Except when I take out the CD nothing has been burned. I have tried several different files and nothing works. If anyone has and idea what is going it would be a tremendous help. Thanks.

Check jumper settings on both drives, update your drivers for your motherboard, and maybe search to see if there are updated firm ware for both drives.

Also, did you remove the new drive to see if the old one still burns when it is solo? If it doesnt, then its probably a new software setting you are not seeing, could have been added by the new drive.

Last, check for updated to your burning software, and then visit the forums of that software to see if others are having the same problem.

You may try other cd burning software like magiciso.
