I've decided to start a yellow pages website in my local area but was unable
to find any working free script which had at least some general features I
needed. Actually I'm ready to pay, but what solution to choose? I have linux
hosting with cgi, php and mysql installed. Please, advice.

Well, you can find someone to do it for free if you have time. Just post questions in here about how to do specific functions.

Sounds like a basic script to me. You will input the name, address, and telephone number for a business, then someone will search for the name, and it will display the closest results for it.

Rather an easy script to do, if you were to pay, I would advise you do not spend a lot on it, for it is so simple.

My suggestion is post this question with more details in the correct section, PHP/MYSql, because this would be either a cgi script, or a php script(most likely php).

You might have to modify 'em, but a business classified script is probably as close as you will get.

I've purchased phpmydirectory.com script and very happy with it. The support is awesome, the script is superb! phpYellow is a bit confusing and looks strange, I guess. :-?
