Computer keeps restarting with the ROM

Hey Guys

Let me tell you the spec of my computer first.

Motherboard: Intel D915GAV/D915PGN
CPU : Intel P4 3.0Ghz
RAM: DDR 2GB (512x4)
HDD : 1. Seagate SATA 72000 RPM 250GB(Primary)
2. 1. Seagate SATA 72000 RPM 320GB
ROM: LG Multi writer.
Nvidia 6600 256mb card
XP Sp2 Professional.
Power: 450watts power supply.

I have a big *** fan on the CPU and three extra fans in the cabinet.

Now the problem. It started three weeks back my computer would just reboot automatically once in 2 days but then one day it just died it would just keep rebooting. It was not even able to reach the BIOS screen. So check my RAM checked all the connections and everything and just for checking i removed my LG ROM from it and it was able to restart.

but then after 2 days it went down again and it wont come up and after several tries it gave me the CPU heat sink error that it was over heating and should be serviced. So removed the fan and applied some more CPU paste between the fan and the CPU.

But now it gives me a blue screen error after Windows boot up screen and would restart. it doesn't even hold on that screen so i can read the error and also I thought I would just reinstall windows but it wont boot up and keep restarting if I put a CD in my ROM.

Now i am able to boot with both my HDDs but as soon as I attach a ROM with it would keep rebooting and i even tried changing the ROM but it worked once but then after that it didn't work. and it gave me the CPU error again.

So I am not sure if its a RAM problem, motherboard issue or power supply issue. because it can get overheated as i was running it open box.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanx in advance.

Re: Computer keeps restarting with the ROM

you need to troubleshoot....Take one item out at a time(assuming you have another or the old objects to replace) and try it out. I had to do that w/ my PC after installing a new hard drive, turned out I needed a new motherboard, AND RAM, GOOD LUCK
