i just installed apache 2.2 on windows XP. i got the directories and virtual hosts setup now but anytime i try to view an index.htm or any other file outside of the apache directory it gives me the 403 access denised error and i cant figure out why.

I don't use windows, but in linux, that problem is caused by the apache user not having access to the folder that you are trying to access. You should recursively add the apache user with read and execute permisions to the directory you are trying to reach.

i thought that but it still doesnt work on my admin accounts either which have full permissions on all files.
