Re: Simple Python Inventory Program

Curiosity is the death of me... but....

Why color? If the product number is unique, wouldn't two different colors of the same basic object have different product numbers?

What about "decorating" it with "attributes"? Have a base product and then add attributes (like color or size) dynamically? Even allow the user to define new attributes to attach to objects.

Even harder (and awesomer) would be allowing new attributes, and a way to specify that they can only be used on certain products ( or groups of products ).

( and I can't stand Tkinter, but that's just me... )

Re: Simple Python Inventory Program

My wife is acting as an "independent consultant" for a friend's home-based business. Her friend isn't totally in the know about how to run a business efficiently. Hence, the product numbers aren't always unique depending on the color.

I originally planned on making improvements to the program, such as you suggested, as things went along, based on feedback from my wife. But her friend has stopped pursuing the business as an active endeavor so the program isn't being used.

I mostly wrote the program as experience in using Tkinter to see it's capabilities and as more practice making a full-blown app rather than just Python scripts. I actually learned quite a bit that I can use towards my game so I'm not disappointed in the program, even if it's not useful.

Sweet.... speaking of which... do still want any help with that thing? It seemed like it hadn't been worked on in a while, so I wasn't sure. I can always submit a few things for you to incorporate into it, if you're still working on it.
