Need Help! Index of / when going to website address

When I go to my website address it comes up and says index of / and has a list of my files. I am not sure where I have gone wrong but would like to have the website come up directly when going to the website address. Can anyone tell me what I need to do. Thanks

Make sure you have a file named index.html (or .htm), default.html (or .htm), or .php if you're using PHP for your site. If you're using Apache, make sure you get the default "welcome" screen when you install it to make sure it's configured correctly.

I have named the file index.html and it still comes up as index of /. I have also configured Apache to have the DocumentRoot and the Directory as the folder that the index.html is in. I am not sure what else I am missing.

Hmmm, not really sure what the problem is. Usually it's just a matter of making sure the config files match your current setup. All I can really suggest at the moment is to uninstall Apache, move your html files to a temp directory, then reinstalling Apache. Make sure the Apache welcome screen comes up with the "you've successfully installed Apache", then try replacing Apache's index.html file w/ your file. If that works, then start putting the rest of your files into the same directory and see if that works.
