Web Host Review: www.vilitas.com

It was one day in May or June of 2002. I was on the lookout for a new web host to sponsor this very web site. Perhaps it was fate, perhaps it was just my lucky day, perhaps it was a little bit of both!

I was already in communications with a few other web hosts who were interested in sponsoring the site when I found this one thread started by Scott Deming of vilitas.com (on WHT) offering sponsored hosting for a lucky few. Scott doesn't know this... (well, he will once he finds this post / thread) but I actually searched the forums for all his previous posts right there and then and read them one by one.

I liked it that he didn't post much or as often as everyday but whenever he replied on that forum, it was immediately obvious that he knew quite a lot about the business and his replies were always on topic, to the point and genuinely helpful.

We exchanged a few emails, and once again, I was very impressed that he took the time to ask me a lot of questions, not only about what I can do for him but what I expected from him in return. Also, he frequently volunteered information about the company's plans for the future which I always appreciated. Even today, I am amazed that he has done nearly EVERYTHING he set out to do - some things took longer than he planned but he did make it happen eventually!

At the end of our sponsorship deal last July, I found myself unwilling to look for a new sponsor for the site. I didn't want to move!!! I had found the perfect web host!

My review / story is not one of ONLY good news... I had my share of down times and speed issues while being hosted at vilitas.com, problems then magnified many times over by less than desirable local ISP connection issues. However, vilitas.com never once failed to keep me informed - whether it's a simple notice of a scheduled down time or a short explanation after the fact!

Now, after more than a year with vilitas.com, I am still not moving! I haven't look at another host for just as long. I am happy being hosted at vilitas.com and I look forward to being hosted by them for as long as they are around.

Scott, if you happen to read this one day - I've said it before and I'll say it again: Thank you!
