dma / pio modesi notice in the device manager that my dvd drives, one a burner and one a reader, have the option of dma mode (preferable) and pio mode.
i had then set for dma mode, but i noticed a burn going slow so i checked and sure enough.....they are in pio mode. how can i make them stay in dma mode ? why would it change back? the machine, if any of it matters... 2.3 gig celeron 1 gig ram 80 gig wdd hard drive lg 18x dvd ram burner xp home (with sp2) thanks for your input! Re: dma / pio modesTry to set each one separately, with a reboot after each one. See if the DMA mode stays or is reset back to PIO. If that doesn't work, you can try to remove the drives from Device Manager then redetect them. Perhaps Windows isn't getting the correct information from them.
