RAM works with processor?

I wish to upgrade my RAM into more because my machine is running slow now. But I heard that my processor will not manage to adapt with the processor if I upgrade my RAM unless I upgrade my processor as well. It's said because my machine will run faster and my processor cannot adapt itself with the upgraded RAM. My RAM(240 MB) and my processor(1.50GHz). Is it true and what is your option?

Re: RAM works with processor?

No. As long as your motherboard supports the type of memory you want to use, you'll be fine.

There's more technical details involved but that's really all you need to know. The CPU already runs many times faster than your memory, so why would you need a faster processor with new memory?

Re: RAM works with processor?

Dude, I already answered your question. My question was purely rhetorical: if your processor already runs many times faster than memory (which it does), then why would you need to upgrade your processor if you buy better memory? You don't. Whoever told you that is either lying or simply ignorant.

The speed of the processor is completely irrelevant to how fast the RAM runs. The motherboard is designed to handle the speed differences between them.

The only reason you would have to upgrade your processor along w/ the RAM is if you buy a new motherboard or the new RAM won't work with your old motherboard. If the RAM you buy won't work with your current system, then you will end up having to buy a new motherboard, new processor, and new RAM. If you're going to do that, then you might as well buy a brand new computer.

Re: RAM works with processor?

I understand now, thanks. I was not wish to ask the question twice but I was a little not sure, so I asked again. I apologize for that.
