reading and writing to hard disk


how can i read from and write to specific loacations of the harddisk ntfs,fat32 and ext2 filestsyems...using both windows and linux??

YOU CAN READ ntfs file systems from linux.
you cannot write to it.

ms windows cannot read or write to linux partitions.

There is an installable device driver for Windows which you may be interested in downloading. It shareware, is called "Ext2FS Anywhere", and allows ext2 and ext3 partitions to be read or written from Windows. Amongst other places you can get it from download.com

IIRC, the latest kernel lets Linux write to NTFS. Actually, I'm not sure if it's part of the kernel or if it's part of a project but the big thing is that Linux can now write to NTFS. I don't know how reliable it is thought.
