Yahoo w/ DMOZ?I thought I remember Rob saying that Yahoo uses DMOZ's directory on top of theirs too, right?
If not, what directory is it that you submit to that leads your submission into yahoo? __________________

Unless Yahoo has changed something, no, it doesn't use anything else, surely not that pathetic dmoz-thingy; even more so because Yahoo is one big directory by itself. Every category listing off the directory on Yahoo should have a little link for you to Suggest a site - you have to really look around the page to find the link; but it's there!
You can submit your site (a non-commercial one) for free but getting in is not guaranteed. At least that's what I remember from submitting this site there 2 years ago... __________________

Yahoo's policy's allow you to submit a non-commercial site for free, but it's not guarantee'd.
Any commercial submissions cost you $299, and still your not guarantee'd. Although I'm sure they accept a lot more paying sites, than they do free submissions. To my surprise, they still charge $299 to a non-profit commercial site. Like charity's. I'm not sure I agree with that policy though.... What do you guys think? It's not quite as shocking as that, jwalsh. Yahoo! is in it for the money (a business entiy), so they pretty much decide what they can or cannot do.
I wouldn't mind if they list my sites for free though! I wish... But it has happened. They have listed sites for free without the webmaster even applying to be listed for free. It's just pure LUCK sometimes. __________________

It comes down to quality at the end. If they believe your site has some worth and are a leader of your field free/commercial then it is in their interest for you to appear in their directory. There are "ways" that can get you into a commercial section free, but it still doesn't mean that they will accept you. I've tried a few times when my site was up to scratch, but I didn't really get a look-in. We are talking world class here, like GIDWorld is becoming
