I have been busy asking this question everywhere else except on my very own Message Board, so here goes;
why can't i get the background colour of a cell (in a table) using an external css stylesheet (when viewed thru Opera or Netscape 6)? |

Netscape and IE both handle CSS differently.
NS6 fixed a lot of things that were broken in 4.0 series. Its probably to do with their Document Object Models and how properties are inherited. Have a look at http://css.nu for starters... In the meantime I'l try and find a few more pointers for css hints & tips. |

Thanks for the info.
However, I found out (quite by accident) that the fault with my external stylesheet styles was just a silly mistake of naming the classes in the wrong way. NEVER use the underscore character to name a style. e.g. instead of naming a new style type_1, I should have just named it type1. If I continue to name my styles with underscores, it works in IE but NOT in NN or Opera - go figure! |
