do while flow chart

I've torn up about 20 pieces of paper trying to make a do while flow chart for my program posted in A menu driven drawing program which took me all day with no help. I can't figure out something that should be easy to do.

Well, I'll bet that I can tear up 20 pieces of paper quicker than you!

Anyhow, it's not too tough to make a flow chart after you have written the program; I kind of think the idea is to do the flow chart first as a design aid.

Not all people visualize programs as two-dimensional manifestations of a sequence of instructions, but it helps some people to do so. The topological problem is to make a program so that the flow chart can be made without crossing the lines confusingly.

Some people have been known to say that if the flow chart is to complicated, then the program is too complicated. Yours isn't that big of a deal. After seeing the flow chart, some people get ideas about improving the program flow (so that the flow chart will be neater). Or, as my old granny used to say, "pretty is as pretty does." Some people don't care at all about beauty; or in other words, "if it works--- it's pretty."

Easier to think about or easier to do? Yours might look something like:

Code:
Enter | | v | | +-----------+ |get number | +-----------+ | v | +---->------>| | | | ____v_____ | / \ no | <number <= 3?>------------------------------------+ | \__________/ | | | | | |yes v | | | | ____v_____ | | / \ yes +--------------+ | | <number == 1?>--------->|print whatever|->--+ | | \__________/ +--------------+ | | | | | | | |no v v | | | | | ____v_____ | | | / \ yes +--------------+ | | ^ <number == 2?>--------->|print whatever|->--+ | | \__________/ +--------------+ | | | | | | | |no v v | | | | | ____v_____ | | | / \ yes +--------------+ | | | <number == 3?>--------->|print whatever|->--+ | | \__________/ +--------------+ | | | |no v v | | | | | |<------------------------------------+ | | | | | +-----v-----+ | | |get number | | | +-----------+ | | | | | | | | ____v_____ | | yes / \ | +<-----<number <= 3?> | \__________/ | | | v no | | | |<------------------------------------------+ | | v | | Exit

Re: do while flow chart

Hi ,
Below is a software which converts the program written in....
C, C++, VB, JAVASCRIPT, VBSCRIPT , PERL, DELPHI, VISUAL FOX PRO, VB.NET,
VISUAL C#, PHP, PL, SQL...etc.....

directly to FLOWCHART......

we have to just open the particular program and it will give u the flowchart .....

this is really helpful when we have too many functions in our programs.....

it is a shareware s/w.....expires after about 30 uses.....

but...u can uninstall it ...delete the folder in "program files" ...so that there is no trace of s/w left....reinstall it and enjoy again

http://www.fatesoft.com/s2f/.

may be this can help you.

So your solution is to
1) let a tool do it for you so you don't have to learn it
2) steal software

Hmmmm

I really want to learn it not steal it but I am in a class that I am not really getting good explanantion on how to do this stuff. The instuctor is a nice guy and I have nothing against him, hes just not a good teacher its only a part time job for him. I,m basicaly looking for web sites what ever with good examples for C programming the book dosn't have many
For instance right now I have to make a menu driven program to chose to draw a diamond. wine glass and triangle like >>>>

*******
*****
***
* < like that sort of using if while loop
I can't even figure out how to get started when he tries to explain it " heavy accent" from another country I can't understand him.

Re: do while flow chart

I suggest you take some time with your instructor one on one and have him explain slowly how to flowchart a program. It's not feasable for us to try to teach you, but is his job to do so. If you don't understand something he says, have him repeat it. Instructors with an accent understand the problem some students have and should have no problem trying to make himself clear -- even if they have to write down what your ear is not hearing.

Its nothing about stealing and letting software do all the work for you.Sometimes it happens with us that we try to learn something without any teacher or instructor ,But we are not sure whether we are going on the right path or not.Unless one learn to make a flowchart, he can't even cross check. The software was only for referencing and cross checking.I felt the same for Mike.
Well,it depends on mike how he takes that and what suits him.

Oh believe me I am going to take a look at it since I'm having such a difficult time. I'm beginning to think I'm to stupid to learn this because I'm just not getting it. I recieved my AA degree in Marketing and Management with honors but this stuff it's just not clicking
Could it be that some types of people just never get this...........I don't know.

Re: do while flow chart

Dont loose hope Mike, flowcharting is not that difficult.Try to understand the concept as to how it works. If you can refer a book, then Yashwant kanitkar's LET US C is a good book which explains everything in C including the flowcharts.
