Torrents Download Problem

hi

my problem is that i m unable to download torrents. I m using BitComet.
Infact i have tried others s/w also..still having same problem.

Here all traffic goes through Linux Proxy Server (Gateway). I have also enabled ports 6881 to 6999 in proxy server, file name is iptables.

After that i change listening port in bitcommet to 6881 then also getting same problem.... Cant connect tracker(10060).

Is there anything that i have to do in linux proxy server....and please tell me how to enable ports 6881 to 6999.
the changes i have made in iptables is :
-A RH-Lokkit-0-50-INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 6881:6999 --syn -j ACCEPT

actually the same entry was there in that file with different ports... i simply copy paste and change port no. there.

In LAN i have installed bitcomet on windows machine(xp,2003,2000), getting same problem on all machine... So i think there is some problem (enable / disable or might be in configuraton) in LINUX PROXY SERVER (gateway for all machines).

please help me.....

thanks for reading

Chandeep

Really thanks for the info..

actually my problem is that i dont have permissions to install any software on my proxy server..... and on LAN every client machine is windows based...
i have tried on several machines but of no worth because all trafficc goes through that proxy server (gateway) and no client machine can byapss proxy server.
Infact i have installed bit comet on windows machine on several clent machines and getting same problem.

so the problem is with the gateway (kind of block something)... Please help me on this.. please

Re: Torrents Download Problem

Is this your own personal LAN or someone else's? If it's not yours then you really need to talk to the sysadmin about this. If it's yours, then I'm sorry. I haven't messed with proxy servers enough to tell you exactly what to do. Perhaps someone else here knows more than I do.

I would recommend looking at the Linux HOWTO for server admin and see if there is anything you might have missed. I'm sure it's something pretty simple but I don't have enough networking experience to fix it. Sorry.
