Anyone recommend a free email service?I'm a very fussy person. Hotmail just ain't good enough for me.
I need an email account with a web-front (I know there is some service that lets you read any POP3 server, but a dedicated one would be handy) preferably without banners or pop-ups. One that allows me POP3 access would be great too. The one I'm using at the moment is called http://smartvia.de, a German company that allowed me to accept Faxes & Phone calls to a special number & then would be saved in my email account. I could also send 20 SMS a month, and I can bounce the first 140 chars of an email to my phone as SMS. Unfortunately, they are withdrawing their free service (first F2S, now this Anyone? Garth,
http://www.myrealbox.com is pretty good...so far free and has been around for a couple of years. They allow Web/PO3/IMAP and have WAP access in beta (I think). Not to mention 10mb of storage. Another good on is Ureach.com - this one is actually best if your were in the US because they have voice mail boxes, fax etc all bundled in. (Good) Free email providers are a dying breed...but check this site for a good list of the survivors. http://www.fepg.net/ |

Yup, that's true. Thanks for the links. If I find a way of getting emails to mobiles via SMS, I'll post up again. Garth Farley |

Yeah, I use that quite a bit. It's very handy. But I'm talking about where you recieve an email & it gets sent to your phone as an SMS. They're a dieing breed even now.
There used to be a bodge on the service mtmsms.com, which allowed you to send an email to them & it would be made into a SMS. The new ICQ cleint has something like this too. But I'm skeptical that I'll find another. Thanks anyway. Garth Farley |

I would definitely suggest www.fastmail.fm ..... its the best mail provider I have come accross...free accounts get 10mb and loads of other features... different paid options too available like a one time payment of $ 14.95 etc ...very reliable ...numerous domains to choose from... and loads more..... I personally have taken up a paid membership and am very much satisfied with it..
p.s if its not much of a trouble, if you do decide to signup with fastmail.fm please put in the referrer field as injinuity@mailbolt.com ..thanks Jinu Johnson |

This has banner ads, but if you want to have an e-mail system for your website, I like ZZN.com . They give you a virtual host name and free e-mail.

Hey that gives me an idea!
Get a vilitas reseller account and set up my own webmail service. The SQemail interface provided by vilitas isnt bad (you can install Amail or another web front interface). Trouble is if people want one for free , someonehas to stand the cost so it would have to be supported by banner advertising or similar. How about it JdS wink |
